Saxophonist and composer Cade Gutierrez, an Albuquerque native, began creating work for his debut record in 2022 and officially started recording in May 2025 at the University of Northern Colorado recording studio, engineered by the great Socrates Garcia. In 2024, Guiterrez premiered 8 of the original compositions from the upcoming album – all of which correspond to major events in his life – to a large audience at Ben Michael's restaurant in Albuquerque. Each track features a unique aesthetic inspired by jazz, R&B, fusion, rock, Latin music, and pop styles. Tonight’s concert features Gutierrez on alto & soprano saxophones; Sidney Hollander, trumpet; Ian McCune, piano; Bodin Chomproosi, bass; Jonah Minkus, drums; plus special guests, Bodhi Davis, tenor saxophone and Nick Aragon, electric bass.
