She's A Keeper
This five piece band with roots in KC has now stretched its audience to Lawrence, KS where part of the band attends KU and all the way down I-70 to Columbia, MO where part of the band attends MU.
When they come together on stage, fun and energetic three part harmonies can be heard. The sound is a folk rock, Americana that at times sounds a wee bit Irish, thanks to one of the two frontmen being half Irish. Also in the mix, a powerful cello and a wiley banjo often played from behind the drum kit.
Those harmonies come from Zac and Colin on vocals and guitar with Fritz on percussion, drum kit, banjo and vocals. Elliott on bass brings prowess in his genes as he is the son of one of The Elders. And then perched behind her cello is Kate adding a dynamic not found in young bands these days.
When firing on all cylinders they can turn any room into a party. One of their first gigs at recordBar brought out 160 people. Since then they have played at Livestrong Sporting KC Stadium, Kanrocksas, The Country Club Plaza Art Fair and recently sold out The Brick in Kansas City.
They are currently playing in support of their 2011 self titled, self released album, "She's a Keeper."
In the near future they hope to begin work on a brand new EP as well as make their first music video.

A Lancaster, PA native, musician Stephen Paul Smoker began his career at an early age, honing his craft as a touring musician and hired gun for bands like MewithoutYou and the Mint. Smoker relocated to Chicago to join and perform with childhood friend Grace Kulp and continued to tour with other acts such as the Loto Ball Show.
Inspired by the bright sun light in his Pilsen attic which doubled as his bedroom, Smoker created what would eventually become Violent Sun / Violent Fun, a no-frills, psychedelic DIY take on indie pop.
After releasing Violent Sun / Violent Fun, Stephen formed his band, Ripe Fruit, and began to perform his music live. Since then, Stephen and Ripe Fruit have become a collaborative effort, writing and recording their first full length album during the summer of 2011. This first full length release from Stephen Paul Smoker & Ripe Fruit will be available in early 2012 on Kilo Records.
The Hearts of Darkness sails the treacherous current between dark Afro-beat rhythms and explosive horns to create an insistent groove with ominous intent. -from the bands myspace page
