Underground Spiritual Game: Tribute to Fela Kuti's Afrika 70
nother installment of the Sonic Spectrum Tribute series.
Tonight we will pay homage to Fela Kuti's "Africa 70", a group of musicians that built the revolutionary sound that we now call afrobeat.
We'll put together musicians from a broad cross-section of Kansas City including members of Hearts of Darkness and Peoples Liberation Big Band.
The first set will play Fela's 1970 second album, "Live with Ginger Baker".
The second set will feature selections from several of Fela's records from the 1970s including "Everything Scatter", "Zombie", "Expensive Shit" and "Water Get No Enemy".
A portion of proceeds go to support the Midwest Music Foundation.
