DJ Dank presents HO-DOWN, Friday, September 7 at Thee Parkside from 9pm to close. $10 cover. This month HO-DOWN explores the electronic sounds of today that will be shaping tomorrow with Violent Vickie, Darling Gunsel, Samuelroy, Erleen Nada and DJ Chicken, so let's go on an electro safari!
Doors open at 9pm with DJ Chicken of Rarebits and Unisexy spinning the newest new and the nowest now for your aural pleasure.
The show kicks off at 10pm with Erleen Nada taking the stage with her big hairdo and even bigger electronic sound. She's come all the way from San Diego to get the HO-DOWN party jammin'.
Samuelroy has been producing music on the San Francisco music scene for a while now, and he has just released his first solo album "Where Alchemy Ends." He brings his set to HO-DOWN with catchy art electro-pop ditties like "You're My Mule" and "Your Boyfriend Gives Me The Creeps." His sound is big as is his heart.
Darling Gunsel brings their first blazing, public performance to Thee Parkside's stage. Hot off the success of their legendary band Ejector, Ricky Terry and Dr. Scott decided to embark on a fresh, new music project with female vocalist Jezabel Gunsel. The trio began an intense period of writing and recording, and now Darling Gunsel is ready to bring their theatrical pop-electronica show to HO-DOWN. The trio layers heavy, dark, driving bass with 80’s inspired synth lines and vocals reminiscent of jazz and folk glazed in a healthy dose of sequins and latex.
Violent Vickie will close out the night with their riot grrrl take on multi-media electro-punk with plenty of trip-out visuals and attitude. Joined by Tyler Holmes, Vickie questions society and addresses feminism, consumerism, addiction and religion. Having already played across the nation, Vickie is currently on tour in Europe and will make HO-DOWN their first stop back at home in the Bay area.
So join DJ Dank for a night of electronic pop-punk mayhem and art at HO-DOWN. It's what everyone will be talking about tomorrow!
