Carolyn's music draws inspiration not only from the classic western swing groups of the 1930s through the 1950s, but also from the big band swing era, Broadway show tunes, and southern blues.
Her latest CD "Cookin' With Carolyn" was named the Best Western Swing Album of 2011 by the Western Music Association while her prior project, "Swing", was nominated as the Western Swing Album of the Year by the Western Music Association and named as one of the Top 10 western swing albums of the year by DJ’s around the world.
Carolyn was inducted into the Texas Western Swing Hall of Fame in 2011, was named the 2010 Western Swing Female Vocalist of the Year by the Academy of Western Artists, and in 2010, was nominated by the Western Music Association for 4 awards (including, Song of the year and Female Vocalist of the Year). A former member of the Grammy nominated Time Jumpers, Carolyn was also named as the 2008 recipient of the Academy of Western Artists (AWA) Will Rogers Cowboy Award as Western Swing Female Vocalist of the Year.
“Cookin’ With Carolyn”, contains songs from the swing era, including Nat King Cole’s “Straighten Up And Fly Right”, Hoagy Carmichael’s “Nearness Of You” and Johnny Mercer’s “Dream” (with background vocals by Riders In The Sky) plus classic country and western songs like “Columbus Stockade Blues and “Yodel Blues” well as new material.
