Caitlin
was born in Alabama, her mother a hairdresser and father, a lineman for
the Huntsville Utilities. Her Grandmother raised her on Cole Porter,
put curlers in her hair and drove her to auditions all over the city.
Caitlin was enrolled in a performing arts academy and soon branched out
into community and regional theatre productions. During those early
years, her father moved to a farm in Hot Rock, Tennessee, and on the
long drives to and fro, she became friendly with everything playing on
the local country radio stations. At 10 years old, she was given her
first CD player and began stocking her collection with The Beatles,
Queen, Hank Williams, Rosanne Cash, Steve Earle, Reba McEntire, Dolly
Parton and The Judds. Her grandmother bought her first guitar just
before she moved with her mother and stepfather to the Durango Colorado:
The Wild West. Those raucous high school days brought with them a
passion for more Alt-C. She quickly became enamored with Uncle Tupelo,
Ryan Adams, Jason Isabel, Tift Merritt, Jenny Lewis, Patty Griffin and
Lucinda Williams. All the while continuing her theatre pursuits, Caitlin
was awarded the Patricia Barry (The Twilight Zone) Scholarship, to
attend Stephens College, a celebrated women’s performing arts school, in
operation since the 1833. She stuffed her boots in a duffel and bought a
plane ticket for New York City where she enrolled in the 2 year Meisner
training program under the instruction of Bill Esper. Furthermore, she
began composing her original music performed in venues such as Hill
Country, The Living Room, Piano’s The Knitting Factory, Hanks Saloon,
Life Cafe, Spike Hill, Pete's Candy Store, Jalopy Theatre, Zebulon, and
Kathryn's House, where she opened for David Olney and split the bill
with Eleanore Whitmore of Steve Earle and the Dukes and Duchesses. In
Brooklyn, New York, Caitlin released her first album of original songs,
self titled: Caitlin Cannon and the Artillery. The record delicately
explores uncomfortable concepts and beautifully expresses them through
chirpy melodies (Fire Escape) and evocative arrangements (Stranger).
Caitlin recently relocated to the Midwest and joined up with the "new"
Artillery.
The Artillery
Elizabeth Riordan: Bass & Backing Vocals
An
accomplished bass player, with sounds from the country, thumpin' on the
upright as a young kid and rockin' out on the electric, Elizabeth
Riordan has toured Europe and the US throughout her career. Always
dreaming of the days of being an accomplished female singer and
entertainer, she looked to her role model Reba McEntire on how to be the
best possible artist! From growin' up in upstate NY on an island off
Lake Erie, to expanding her horizons educationally on the west coast of
California, she is now coming into her own and joining forces with these
wonderfully creative women to soar from her grassroots and cowgirl
boots. As she hits the stage to steal people's hearts with her loving
and giving nature, she brings forth her intentions to create peace and
harmony through music, in a world that works for everyone!
Crystal Wolfchild: Glockenspeil & Backing Vocals
From
mountain girl to the city of Angles, native Emmy nominated makeup
artist, Crystal Wolfchild, returns to her passion of rhythm and song. As
a teenager, singing on the back of a bus with Caitlin and daydreaming
of being in a band together, she followed her spirit and came back home
to Durango, CO where the daydreams have become reality! Flexing her
muscles of high fashion style paired with skills of behind the scenes
entertainment, she dazzles the crowd with her sweet voice and
glockenspiel melodies. With her passion for music, Crystal is now
learning to play the Djimbe, Ukelele, Guitar, and Piano...and to top it
off, she is taking up the hobby of sewing! She is a jack-ette of many
trades and adds to the band's style, sound and harmony. As she stands
on stage, she also stands for a life without regrets, knowing that all
things are possible!
