The USASA (United States of America Snowboard/Skier Association) is a grassroots organization that promotes safe, fair and fun events for snowboarders and skiers while fostering a competitive spirit. Every year riders compete in rail jam, slalom, giant slalom, slopestyle, boarder/skier cross and halfpipe events at the regional level. Skiers can be involved in the slopestyle, skiercross and halfpipe events. Riders accumulate points to qualify for Nationals. Although we do not have a halfpipe in New Mexico, we are working on joining with the SW Colorado series in Crested Butte for their events this season. The goal is to promote fun lifelong activities for snowboarders and skier of all ages.

The Southwest Freeride Series (formerly New Mexico Series) along with Angel Fire Resort was host to the 2004 Nationals with 1118 competitors ranging in age from 6 to 60. The Southwest Freeride Series has a schedule for the 2012-13 season set (listed below) for rail jam, Slalom/giant slalom, slopestyle, halfpipe, and boarder/skier cross with the possibility of adding events still pending. We would like to expand our series participation to Arizona and Southwest Colorado riders who have not recently been represented.

We hope for you to join our series to make it even stronger. We had 42 riders attend Nationals last year with many Podium Finishes and 4 National Champions!!!!! We would like to continue and expand on that tradition.
