THE STORY OF FLOOZY
The members of Floozy found one another serendipitously, through the interwoven network of the smallest big state in the country known as New Mexico. Singer-songwriters Bronson Elliott (the Sexy Mother Pluckers) and Teresa Esguerra (Local Honey), both drummers and guitarists, met through a mutual friend and formed a band within 30 minutes of their introduction. Through the miracle of modern technology, respected bassist/vocalist/composer Tanya Nunez (Fast Heart Mart) was alerted of this alliance via text message and joined promptly.
Between these three intersecting lives, Floozy brings a wealth of musical experience and know-how, as heard in locations from Oaxaca to Cuba to Abu Dabi to San Francisco, playing with the likes of jazz great/Grammy Award winning Stu Nevitt, sharing stages with folks like Kevin Seconds of the influential punk band, 7 Seconds, and recording in studios anywhere from the snowcapped Sierra Nevada Mountains to sea level at Capitol Records in sunny Los Angeles.
As a trio, Floozy has entertained packed houses at local brewpubs, cheering parade goers dressed as skeletons and break dancing kids hopped up on candy. They incorporate choreographed dance moves and switch instruments throughout each show. Floozy is as comfortable with their own material as they are with their diverse catalogue of covers that range from Britney Spears and the Beastie Boys to Buck Owens and Dolly Parton. They were featured in the music section of the December 2012 publication of ABQ Arts Magazine and they entertained a sold-out crowd for their CD release at Albuquerque’s Outpost Performance Space in February 2013. They’ve also been featured in the Albuquerque Journal, on KUNM radio in Albuquerque and KBAC in Santa Fe.
Their debut album, Open Can Of Super Days, was recorded entirely at Rhythm Ranch Records in Corrales, NM with veteran engineer Mark Shipman and mastered by Grammy Nominated Peerless Mastering in Boston. The album contains seven original songs that reveal influences in Americana, folk, country and rock with hints of punk and alt rock. Four of the songs on the album are covers that range in style from classic country, pop and jazz to a Mexican folk song.
