Duncan Sheik is a Grammy Award and two-time Tony Award winning singer-songwriter and composer. As a solo artist, his Atlantic Records debut spawned the ubiquitous hit "Barely Breathing” which spent 55 weeks on the Billboard's Hot 100 Chart and propelled the sales to 750,000 copies.
Audiences can expect a little bit of everything from Duncan Sheik. Maybe a few tunes from his theatre projects (Spring Awakening, The Nightingale, the forthcoming American Psycho), his celebrated recordings (White Limousine, Whisper House or his brand new album, due out later this year), or even some tunes from his whimsical project, Duncan Sheik Covers the 80’s. No matter what he’s presenting, expect an artistic and high-octane evening from one of the theatre and music world’s most unique and gifted talents.
Sheik composed musical Spring Awakening which earned 8 Tony Awards, including "Best Musical". Spring Awakening proved influential on Broadway and the New York Times predicted, "Broadway, with its often puerile sophistication and its sterile romanticism, may never be the same". Sheik is currently mounting the stage production of Bret Easton Ellis' American Psycho which will debut at the Almedia Theatre in London in December 2013. His other works in development include stage adaptations of The Nightingale and Because of Winn Dixie.
In 2012 Sheik released remix of his 2011 covers album, Covers Eighties Remixed with contributions from Samantha Ronson, El-P, Gabriel & Dresden, Chico Mann and more. Sheik is currently spending time in his recording studio in Garrison, NY working on his latest album of original material due out in 2014.
