The NMTC Tech Update is designed to highlight the outstanding work being done in New Mexico by providing a platform for organizations to speak on projects and initiatives. Join NMTC for the monthly Tech Update on the third Friday of each month and learn more about the technology industry in New Mexico.

 About The Speakers:

 

Tawnya Rowland

TechHire New Mexico Program Director, Workforce Connection of Central New Mexico

 

Tawnya Rowland has been active in federal grant writing and program management for twenty years, with a focus on programs that assist minority and underserved populations. The TechHire New Mexico grant program has funding to cover all Tech/IT tuition costs and job placement support services for 270 individuals between the ages of 17 and 29 who have barriers to training and employment.

 

 

Harrison Fortier,

Director of Engineering at Aviata 

Harrison is a UNM Graduate from the School of Engineering with an undergraduate degree in Computer Science. He is responsible for overseeing all engineering efforts at Aviata, supervising five separate engineering teams. Harrison has lead efforts for early adoption of several key technologies at Aviata, including the use of Docker and Kubernetes. He has a strong personal interest in machine learning technologies, and emerging cloud technologies. Harrison has been working in the software development industry for over 14 years and has been leading development teams for the last six years.
