Space Monkey Mafia is an up and coming 6-piece ensemble out of the Twin Cities, Minnesota. Known for their high energy live performances, Space Monkey Mafia takes cues from classic ska/punk bands of the 90s and 00s while adding a healthy dose of rock, pop, blues and jazz. With members being trained at McNally Smith College of Music, the band incorporates top notch musicianship with fun cover medleys and danceable original songs. One of the band’s strengths is its versatility, pairing saxophonist Dante Leyva’s powerful soul vocals with guitarist Blake Foster’s punk howl, with every other member contributing vocals as well. Rounded out by a three piece horn section and a tight rhythm section, Space Monkey Mafia leaves it all onstage while performing live.
In just over a year of performing, Space Monkey Mafia has covered a lot of ground, including opening for Stacked Like Pancakes and ska legends The Toasters, playing at storied Twin Cities venues The Cabooze and the Triple Rock, touring regionally, as well as appearances at Shangri La Music Festival and Galactic Get Down Music Festival. The band has no plans of slowing down and is currently booking dates for 2018!
