Whether we listen to jazz, pop, country or hip-hop today, all of their roots can be traced back to the blues. Through the years and various styles, the blues, with its distinct form, sound and appeal, has never faded. In this year's edition of Ladies Sing the Blues, one of our signature curated concerts, we explore the "back-bone" of the blues with a show entitled "Funkifyin' the Blues." The blues' roots in the American "Deep South" are explored, and the cast of musicians promises "... to dig into the dirt, slow down and get funky for people's listening and dancing enjoyment ..."  

This year's show features curator Joanie Cere, Abby Maxwell, Zenobia and Wendy Beach along with an all-star band that includes Chuck Coulter (trumpet), Lee Taylor (saxophone), Rum Rodriguez (keys), Kyle Beenhouwer (guitar), Maud Beenhouwer (bass), Ricky Carrido (percussion), and Arnaldo Acosta (drums).
