Native New York musical colleagues, saxophonist and composer Jon Gordon and trumpeter Michael Morreale join forces for a concert with New Mexico stalwarts Bob Fox on piano; Terry Burns on bass; and John Trentacosta on drums. A native New Yorker, saxophonist and composer Jon Gordon won the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Saxophone Competition in 1996 and has worked with everyone from Maria Schneider, Clark Terry, Rufus Reid and Jimmy Cobb to Aretha Franklin, The Vanguard Jazz Orchestra, Harry Connick Jr., Tony Bennett, Bruce Springsteen and more. A multi-Grammy award nominated arranger, several of his recordings have received high acclaim, including his 2008 release, Within Worlds, which was selected by Down Beat as one of the top jazz recordings of the decade and his 2021 CD, Stranger Than Fiction which was nominated for a JUNO award for Best Jazz Release of 2021. His latest album, 7th Ave South, will be released in May of 2024. One of New York’s finest, Michael Morreale has performed often to sold out audiences in Santa Fe over the past 25 years and has also performed several times at Outpost. He appeared on both highly acclaimed Straight Up albums (with John Trentacosta) in 1996 and 2002, and has since recorded five albums as a leader of his own quartet. Morreale more recently released his album, Power Trio, which has been met with rave reviews. $40/$30 Members/$15 Students with current valid ID.
