Woven Roots is a five-piece Roots Reggae band that has been creating
music for the past 18 years. The band draws its name and inspiration
from the interconnectedness of all things living and non-living.
Symbolized by roots interwoven with branches in the tree of life, as
seen in Celtic spirituality. The music of Woven Roots harmonizes rich
Roots Reggae and Dub styles from the deep wilderness of Humboldt
County. Inspiration for the powerful lyrics and beats comes from living
close to the Earth in the beautiful woodlands of the pacific northwest.
Woven Roots is lead by the melodic vocals of Travis Roots and backed
by the talents of life long musicians Gueren (Gman) on guitar, Alex
(A-Frame) on keys, Eliam on bass and Dan on drums. In 2006, high
school classmates, Travis and Gueren started writing songs together
while homesteading in the mountains of Humboldt County. With a
collection of a dozen songs and the talents of Travis' voice and lyrics
combined with Gman's guitar playing and chord arrangements, they set
out to put a reggae band together and Woven Roots was born. Since
2006 they have released 4 albums, with a 5th on its way. Woven Roots
seeks to use music as a vessel to spread a message of love,
understanding and sustainability.
Woven Roots has collaborated with several prominent artists
including, Uroy, Mykal Rose, Messenjah Selah, Julian Marley, Capleton,
Sizzla, Turbulence, Fantan Mojah, Lutan Fyah, Gappy Ranks, and
Wayne Marshall. They also have performed extensively on the West
Coast, Hawaii, and headlined festivals such as Reggae on the River.
