OPEN MIC
The best open mic in N.E.P.A featuring full sound system, one of the best sound guys in the area Ben Travers, We provided drum kit and Guitar Amp. Stop by and perform in front of a great crowd.
Mark Karan is best known for performing with the extended Grateful Dead family. For the last twelve years, he has anchored the lead guitar slot in Bob Weir & RatDog, playing hundreds of shows to thousands of fans year-round. Before crossing over into the land of the Dead, Mark worked his guitar and vocal voodoo for the likes of Dave Mason, Delaney Bramlett, the Rembrandts, Paul Carrack, Huey Lewis, Jesse Colin Young and Sophie B. Hawkins.
Mark also tours with an array of amazing musicians on his own, where his soulful blues-based vocal stylings and inspired guitar work meld with the remarkably creative and responsive playing of his friends in a passionate delivery of the psychedelicized sounds of Americana. This is where rock meets R&B and country and mixes with the soul of New Orleans… with healthy portions of reggae, folk, funk and whatever else the muse might bring. In addition to his originals, as well as those of songwriter friends, Mark covers a range of eclectic songs from Johnny “Guitar” Watson’s “You Can Stay (But the Noize Must Go)” and Peter Tosh’s “Don’t Look Back”, to the Kinks’ “Lazin’ on a Sunny Afternoon” or Joe Jackson’s “Fools in Love” — his unique musical taste and song choices are the hallmark of these shows, and always crowd pleasers for his nationwide, loyal fanbase.
Mark’s debut album, “Walk Through the Fire” was released in 2009 to critical acclaim, and features very special guests Delaney Bramlett, Bill Payne, Mike Finnigan, Pete Sears, John Molo, Hutch Hutchinson, The Persuasions, The Rowan Brothers, and many more. He is in demand as both a studio musician and producer, having produced numerous albums for other artists, and recorded or composed a wide variety of music for film, television, and music libraries. His contributions to TV alone can currently be heard on over 15 networks and internationally in over 25 countries.
Mark has toured the world, rocking the Montreaux Jazz Festival, the Mt. Fuji Jazz Festival, and the Fuji Rock Festival. He has also headlined Bonnaroo, Gathering of the Vibes, the New Orleans JazzFest and many other festivals on the homefront. Mark’s played the Ryman Auditorium, San Francisco’s Fillmore, Radio City Music Hall, Red Rocks Amphitheater, and many other legendary musical venues. His TV appearances include Austin City Limits, VH1 Classic’s All Star Jams, Late Night with Conan O’Brien, Late Late Night with Craig Kilborn, Today Show and Regis & Kathy Lee. Mark has also been showcased in live performances and featured interviews on SiriusXM, in addition to commercial and specialty radio nationwide.
In recent years, Mark has performed live with The Allman Brothers, Trey Anastasio, Joan Baez, Dickey Betts, Delaney Bramlett, Larry Campbell, Clarence Clemons, Michael Franti & Spearhead, Galactic, Gov’t Mule, Jackie Greene, Sammy Hagar, Levon Helm, Bill Kirchen, Chuck Leavell, Little Feat, New Riders of the Purple Sage, Phil Lesh & Friends, John Popper, String Cheese Incident, Derek Trucks, Narada Michael Walden and others.

The Join (Jamie Shields & Darren Shearer of the new deal with Tom Hamilton & Clay Parnell of BP)
the NEW DEAL announces a metamorphosis into The JOIN.
the New Deal, a pioneer of the "livetronica" sound and a mainstay in both the Electronic and Jamband scenes for close to eight years, was recently faced with the possibility of having to cancel their recent California tour due to Dan Kurtz’s increasingly busy schedule with his new pop project Dragonette.
To counter the nebulous months to come, drummer Darren Shearer and keyboard player Jamie Shields have developed The JOIN - a musical unit that will host a revolving door of musicians depending on what area of the world they’re in as well as what show setting they find themselves a part of. The JOIN premiered recently with a sold-out West Coast tour which featured David Murphy (STS9) on bass.
The JOIN, has also thrown down tours featuring Marc Brownstein & Aron Magner (the Disco Biscuits) and Tom Hamilton & Clay Parnell (Brothers Past), and in the end of 2007 with the Benevento/Russo Duo.
The New Deal’s music, rooted in improvisation, is based on creating and developing actual songs and themes in the moment. This new project will allow them to spread their wings and share this creative ethic with other musicians from many disciplines and backgrounds.
***Check out the JOIN’s impromptu performance with the DUO from July 6, 2007 in NC!***
The JOIN, the New Deal’s alter ego has proven to be a very exciting project and each unique show experience should never be missed.
David Kemper played drums with keyboardist Melvin Seals in the Jerry Garcia Band from 1983 through 1993. Following his tenure with the JGB, Kemper returned to session work, including an extensive run with Bob Dylan from 1996-2001 (both on the road and on studio recordings like 1997’s Time Out of Mind and 2001’s Love & Theft). Seals continued to tour after Garcia’s death, leading a new version of the JGB. Now, Kemper’s career will come full circle when the drummer replaces Sam Howard in the current incarnation of the JGB. The latest version of JGB features Seals, bassist Martin Holland, singers Judith Coleman and Mary Holland and guitarist Stu Allen. The JGB will perform next at Minneapolis, MN’s Trocaderos Nightclub on August 2. The group will also appear at Black River Falls, WI’s Grateful Garcia Gathering from August 3-4 and San Francisco’s Jerry Garcia Amphitheatre on August 5 as part of “Jerry Day.” Looking ahead the group will celebrate New Year’s eve at Big Sky, MT’s at the Big Sky Resort in Big Sky, MT.

Disco Dollar "an evening of soul, funk & disco"
THE BEST DISCO PARTY IN TOWN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
TAUK------Montauk, Long Island, is known by conspiracy theorists, monster buffs, military historians, sport fisherman, the vacationing elite and, yes, even music fans – the Rolling Stones wrote a song about “Memory Motel,” a local estate owned by Andy Warhol and frequented by the band, and Billy Joel waxes nostalgic about the Montauk Sound in his song “The Downeaster Alexa.”
Now, prepare to meet Tauk (yes, short for Montauk), a band that deliver a unique blend of funk, jazz, pop and rock with a fresh, experimental spirit. Since forming earlier this decade, the Long Island-based quintet have built an impressive DIY buzz, scoring opening gigs for O.A.R, earning slots at top festivals like Gathering of the Vibes (alongside Buddy Guy and Bob Weir and Ratdog) and being featured on Fuse TV. Their profile is only going to grow with the release of their first full-length album, Brokedown King.
MIZ-----Mike Miz bio: “Madness in My Mind” is the culmination and road less traveled by bohemian artist Mike Miz. Released in 2007 it is both a catharsis and a triumph, a brutally honest pictorial of so many of his generation. Deeply honest, expressing the angst and sweet brilliance of life on the edge that only a true risk taker can see.
Mike’s roots are in the Wyoming Valley of Northeastern Pennsylvania, where his music reflects the folk, rock, blues, blue grass and reggae base in which he was nurtured. Privileged to play out since the age of 15, he has had the pleasure to play on stage with such formable artist as Umphrey’s McGee, Don Preston (Frank Zappa and the Mothers), Chuck Garvey, Al Schnier, Vinnie Amico & Jim Loughlin (moe.), Charlie Hitchcock & Ben Combe (Particle), Marco Benevento, Jeff Pevar, Jason Hann (String Cheese Incident), Michael Glabicki (Rusted Root), Jen Z (Antigone Rising), Ryo Okumoto, Marc Ford (Black Crowes, Ben Harper), Willy Waldman, Tim Carbone (Railroad Earth, Phil and Friends ,Scott Sawyer, Merl Saunders, Gordon Stone, Creed Bratton (the Grassroots, NBC’s The Office), George Wesley, and many more…. Mike has also opened for acts like Derek Trucks Band, Leon Russell and Jimmy Herring

Popa Chubby is known as a genre buster. Galea is known for her bust. ..and.. her dust ... bad housewife, you know. He’s a New Yorker, and she’s a Maltese Canadian. They may seem unlikely hellbillies, but they are proud shitkickers. Sure they play that rock n roll and them blues, but they run like outlaws!
In 2008 George was voted ‘Best Singer-Songwriter’ by Diamond City Readers Poll.
The music, itself, captures musicians as well as people just out for a good time because George writes from his musical roots… Bob Marley, Bob Dylan, The Grateful Dead and other diverse influences. Along with outstanding musicianship and professionalism, George delivers his musical story with warmth and sincerity through clear and effortless singing that only comes to artists with years of honing their skills.
In addition to his original material George Wesley does a "Tribute to Bob Marley" in which he covers Bob Marley “twisted up and smoked” George Wesley style! He also covers the following artists in his own unique style: Peter Tosh… Jimmy Cliff… Jimi Hendrix… The Rolling Stones… Eric Clapton… Dylan… Grateful Dead… Stevie Ray Vaughn and many more.
If David Byrne is one of the geniuses of modern times, then Start Making Sense is a tribute to genius. The musicians in this 7-piece Talking Heads cover have come from psychedelia-funk, NYC underground spoof bands, worldbeat jam, head-banging punk and from onstage with Frank Zappa’s band members to bring to stage a "once in a lifetime" experience. A rockin’, funkin’, danceable celebration of the new-wave punk we loved from the 80’s with frontman Jon Braun as a spot-on David Byrne - suit too big and all.
This all star line up brings you a full evening of Tom Petty’s music. One of the favorites at the Jazz Cafe. Check out this high energy tribute band. If you are a Tom Petty Band please come out and appreciated TPAB.
"Why bust out that moldy old 8-Track when you’ve got the Machine? There’s no one better equipped than this act when it comes to celebrating the 25th anniversary of Pink Floyd’s prog-rock masterpiece, Dark Side of the Moon. They duplicate the sound and hits of Pink Floyd with chilling accuracy, and they play for a hell of a long time (you’ll get your money’s worth and then some). If you stick around till the end, you might even hear them jam out on a tune from the Grateful Dead or some other psychedelic relic." - Matt Diehl Rolling Stone
"These guys are great!" -Bob Ezrin, Co-Producer, Pink Floyd’s The Wall
THE MACHINE, America’s top Pink Floyd show, has forged a 20 year reputation of excellence, extending the legacy of Pink Floyd, while creating another legacy all their own. Over the years, The Machine has touched the hearts and souls of many, selling out theaters, large clubs and casinos across North and Central America, Europe and Asia. They have also appeared at renowned music festivals such as Bonnaroo, Riverbend, Gathering of the Vibes, Buffalo’s Artpark, and Germany’s Rock of Ages.
In the classic tradition, The Machine explores collective improvisation paralleling and even rivaling that of an early 1970’s Pink Floyd mentality. Their use of expanded theatrical elements and elaborate stage displays continues in the spirit of the later Floyd lineups of the 1980’s. The band is also known for recreating entire albums as a part of their show, accepting requests from fans, and for taking an A to Z approach in which one song is played for every letter of the alphabet. Additionally, the quartet has been sharing the stage with full symphony orchestras, including the Atlanta, Detroit, Pittsburgh and San Diego Symphonies. "
