EAST MESA is a trio of “maturing” musicians whose individual talents and vocal styles blend to produce unique harmonies and musical interpretations. EAST MESA consists of two seasoned Las Cruces members, Michael Pritchard and Mark Sukontarak, and one newcomer to the area, Mark Courtney. Michael and Mark S. have played in and around Las Cruces for several years, individually and as members of Desert Willow. Michael brings an accomplished bass fiddle, driving guitar and high lonesome vocal harmony to EAST MESA, and Mark S. contributes his talents on guitar, flute and compelling bass vocals. Mark C. adds his guitar and vocal experience with traditional folk and Celtic music. EAST MESA presents a program of varied music and song in a uniquely integrated style. Rooted in the traditional musical styles of the Portugese motherland and its overseas territories, from fado and morna to their Brazilian echoes, Deolinda offers a vignette of the Lisbon streets, through the eyes of a young woman of the same name. It is her acoustic songs that are voiced by expressive Ana Bacalhau, assisted by three masters of double bass and classical guitar. Classic American baritone, Daniel Narducci, performs songs of legendary heroes and villains from Broadway to Hollywood, including Don Quixote, Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde and the Phantom Of The Opera. Since his debut with the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra, he has appeared with many of the world’s most prestigious orchestras. One the operatic stage, his recent appearances include Sharpless in Madama Butterfly and Escamillo in Carmen. An increasingly active recording artist, he sang the role of Captain Hook on teh world premiere recording of Leonard Bernstein’s Peter Pan.

Having written his first song at the age of 14, Denny Guerrero learned early on that music spoke to him in a stronger and clearer way than anything else did in his young life. The Afiara Strong Quartet takes its name from the Spanish word fiar, meaning "to trust." This amazing viola, cello and two violin quartet gives every piece they play a unique blend of energy, style and pizzazz. This all-Canadian group was named The Juilliard School’s new graduate resident string quartet and won the Concert Artists Guild International Competition in New York. The Quartet couples Haydn and hip-hop, complete with a rapping cellist, often to the glee of students and enthusiastic amusement of adults.

Junior Mance, born Julian Clifford Mance, Jr., in Chicago, Illinois on October 10, 1928 is a jazz pianist, composer, author of "HOW TO PLAY BLUES PIANO", and recording artist of thirty plus albums as a leader and numerous recordings as a sideman. Before putting together his own band, Junior Mance toured with Dinah Washington, Cannonball Adderley, and Dizzy Gillespie. Marimba and percussion artist, Greg Giannascoli was a winner of the 2001 Artist International New York Recital/Young Artist Competition and was also top prizewinner of the 1997 Patrons Of Wisdom INternational Young Artist Competition held in Toronto, Canada. Greg has performed as a soloist with orchestras and in recital throughout North America, Europe and Asia. Greg’s performances have been presented on CBC and NPR radio and PBS TV. Greg is a faculty member at the esteemed Juilliard Pre-College and is also the coordinator of the percussion department at New Jersey City University.

Blake Espy started violin at the age of six. He has been associate concertmaster of the Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra, a frequent performer with the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra and in Mexico City with Orquesta Sinfonica de Mineria. Mr. Espy holds a Bachelor of Music Performance Degree from Western Michigan University, a Master of Music Performance Degree from Louisiana State University and an Artist’s diploma at SUNY Purchase. Currently Mr. Espy teaches at New Mexico State University and serves as associate concertmaster of the Las Cruces Symphony Orchestra. Accompanied by Mr. Stephen Beus, Mr. Espy will present an exhilarating program of Gershwin and other light classical selections.
