They are also available through Hold My Ticket (112 2nd St SW), 505-886-1251, Monday to Friday 9 AM - 6 PM, Sat & Sun 11 AM - 6 PM.
We'll be gathering for a late-night evening of revelry, food, drink and music to welcome our Breton friends on Wednesday, May 22. When you purchase a concert ticket, we will send you an invitation to join us.
The Samuel LeHenanff Quartet is inspired by the traditional music of Brittany, France, infused with a mosaic of influences ranging from Latin to Flamenco with a hint of jazz touched off with blues. Their original arrangements offer a refreshing, contemporary and energetic take on traditional Breton dance music.
LeHenanff, a fixture on the Breton music scene and a longtime teacher of traditional music, is at ease on the accordion playing Breton or Irish music, whether on stage in Paris, New York or Brittany.
His quartet is a Fest-Noz band. "Fest-Noz" means "night party" in the
Breton language, and was recently honored by UNESCO as an Intangible
Cultural Heritage to Humanity.
A Fest-Noz is a festive gathering
based on the collective practice…

Tickets are $17 in advance, $22 day of show (including a $2 service charge). They are also available through Hold My Ticket (112 2nd St SW), 505-886-1251, Monday to Friday 9 AM - 6 PM, Sat & Sun 11 AM - 6 PM.
Birds of Chicago is a collective based around JT Nero and Allison Russell. Nero and Russell have emerged as two of the most compelling new voices in North American Roots music; for several years their respective bands, Po' Girl (Vancouver, BC) and JT and the Clouds (Chicago, IL), have collaborated extensively, but on 2011's Mountains/Forests, released under the JT Nero banner, they tapped into the true, bewitching power of their voices together on an entire record. It also featured the full cast of characters that would round out the Birds of Chicago ensemble -- the Clouds and Michelle McGrath, the luminous singer and picker from the hidden hills of Southeast Ohio.
Mountains/Forests received critical raves and won them new fans on both side of the Atlantic, and created a great deal of excitement for the first official Birds of Chicago album,…

It has always seemed as if there were two Cheryl Wheelers, with fans of
the New England songwriter relishing watching the two tussle for control
of the mic. There is poet-Cheryl, writer of some of the prettiest, most
alluring and intelligent ballads on the modern folk scene. And there is
her evil twin, comic-Cheryl, a militant trend defier and savagely funny
social critic. The result is a delightful contrast between poet and
comic.

Poet-Cheryl writes achingly honest songs of love and loss. Contrasting
the prosaic landscapes of her native small-town America with the
hopelessly rootless life of the traveling performer, she touches the
common chords with any who feel the tug between our busy, noisome times
and the timeless longing for simplicity and silence. Her deceptively
plain-spun songs have been hits for such mainstream
stars as Suzy Bogguss ("Aces") and Dan Seals ("Addicted"), and have been
recorded by everyone from Bette Midler, Maura O’Connell, Peter Paul and
Mary, Juice…

They are also available through Hold My Ticket (112 2nd St SW), 505-886-1251, Monday to Friday 9 AM - 6 PM, Sat & Sun 11 AM - 6 PM.
Sandra Wong, Dominick Leslie and Ty Burhoe come together in an unusual trio combination of nyckelharpa/fiddle, mandolin and tabla/world percussion to explore music from all corners of the globe, including their own compositions. Having made their trio concert debut at the Caramoor International Music Festival July of 2010, they have been working together for over a year and the project continues to gain both momentum and depth.
Reaching into their individual roots of bluegrass, jazz, Scandinavian, old-time American and both western and Indian classical music, their arrangements honor each tradition while moving into new, uncharted territory. Whether it’s old-time tunes in 7, Bach on nyckelharpa, mandolin and tabla, Swedish tunes from hundreds of years ago brought into a 21st century arrangement or Shakti revisited; Sandra, Dom and Ty create a musical playground for everyone (both musicians and listeners) to explore, play, stretch, and grow in a joyful space.

Born in Los Angeles in 1950, Tom Russell [web site | Amazon.com] has spent the majority of his life creating music in one genre or another. Having been steeped in Tex-Mex and cowboy music of the southwest, he is best known as a folk and country singer with a personal storytelling approach to his songwriting. Russell's past is checkered with interesting events that defy his country music roots, including his receiving a degree in criminology, teaching school in Nigeria, and playing music for a Puerto Rican circus.
Criminals and circuses aside, Russell has penned a number of well-received albums. As a taxi driver in Queens, Russell met guitarist Andrew Hardin, and the two soon formed a band. Russell and Hardin became the regular opening act for Robert Hunter of the Grateful Dead, and spent the 1980s releasing four albums under the Tom Russell Band moniker. In the 90s, he put out a series of solo albums; however,…

Reaching the national spotlight in 2002, pianist Vienna Teng [web site | Amazon.com] had been an important part of the California singer/songwriter scene for a few years before then. A pianist since the age of five, Teng took piano lessons before moving on to improvisation. Writing feverishly throughout her youth, she eventually had a full album's worth of instrumentals by the age of 16. Going to Stanford to further her education, she released an EP while going to school and recorded most of Waking Hour before she graduated. After releasing the…
