His compulsion to try new things is evident in the side-projects he’s done along the way: the experimental indie-rock of Bad Astronaut, all-star party/cover band Me First & the Gimme Gimmes, power-pop combo The Playing Favorites and, of course his solo acoustic work. He produces nearly everything he is involved in and on occasion other bands, The Ataris and Nerf Herder to name a few.

Kevin Seconds (of 7 Seconds) - Best known for his work in 7 Seconds, the legendary American hardcore punk rock band he has led for over three decades, Kevin Seconds has spent the 20 years morphing into a brilliant lo-fi home-recordist singer-songwriter.
Atriarch - Hailing from Portland, OR, vocalist Lenny Smith describes Atriarch as “a
living entity comprised of four parts, offering catharsis through sonic
ritual where there is no god, there is no devil; there is an all
encompassing force that connects all living things.” Comprised of members from Graves at Sea, Trees, Final Conflict, Uzala, and Get Hustle,
Seventh Rule released “Forever the End.” The album was tracked in
Portland with the help of William Holloway then mixed and mastered by
Greg Wilkinson (Ludicra, Asunder, Saviors) at Earhammer Studios in
Oakland, CA.

Wild Hunt - From Oakland, California, Wild Hunt's epic, progressive sound draws
influence from black metal, traditional heavy metal, ambient music, and
beyond. From triumph to melancholia, Wild Hunt's long, winding songs
twist and turn but always push forward. Majestic dual-guitar
lines race atop forward-charging rhythms, led by the soaring harmonies
and blackened screams of singing drummer Harland Burkhart.
The band's intense, mystical vibe honors past musical forms while
forging ahead in a progressive-minded way. Drummer of Agalloch and Worm
Ouroboros, Aesop Dekker has publicly hailed Wild Hunt, praising the
band's "craft, musicianship, and songwriting."

TSOL formed in 1978 in Long Beach, California and originated as a Hardcore Punk band, developing from earlier bands Johnny Koathanger and the Abortions, and SS Cult. Although most commonly associated with Hardcore Punk, TSOL's music varies on each release. They have also released music in the styles of Deathrock, Art Punk, Horror Punk, and other varieties of Punk music. While many bands become passé after a few years, others stand the test
of time and continue to write great songs and stay relevant. That is the
epitome of TSOL, still crazy, still witty and still angry after all
these years.
www.facebook.com/pages/TSOL/108461642511006
VKTMS got together in 1978 when Mohammed Obead introduced Louis Gwerder (drums) to Jay Davis (guitar). After rehearsing for a while with various people and using a different name they ended up with George Ritter (bass) and began searching for a singer. Nyna Crawford answered a bulletin board ad placed at Aquarius Records. Her intense energy (she cracked a solid concrete floor) and already developed lyric skills impressed them immediately.

For every blistering riff there is an imitator, for each impassioned bellow, a sound-alike. It is the challenge of the modern musician to take the finite set of notes upon which all music is built, and make it their own. Warbringer did not invent their own vein of metal. They were preceded by greats like Slayer, Exodus, Testament, Anthrax and the almighty Metallica – but over the course of their previous two albums, they have managed to construct songs that are equal parts ferocity and finesse, and in doing so, created a sound that is distinctly their own. With the release of Worlds Torn Asunder, Warbringer are poised to take their rightful place at the table alongside the big boys.

Hatchet IS PURE UNCOMPROMISING BAY AREA THRASH METAL! WITH A CATCHY MELODIC TWIST TO THEIR SOUND THEY HAVE STOOD ABOVE TO MAKE A MARK. THEIR 2008 DEBUT "AWAITING EVIL" RELEASED ON METAL BLADE RECORDS WAS WELL RECEIVED AND A GREAT BEGINNING FOR HATCHET.

MM & OB's well received 2009 debut, Words Of The Knife, drew comparisons to Beck (All Music Guide), John Steinbeck's California regionalism (Crawdaddy), and Howe Gelb (Present Magazine). Featuring contributions from members of Girls, The Blank Tapes, and Jolie Holland's band, the album inspired the LA Weekly to proclaim "Mark Matos & Os Beaches re-invent Western Exotica."

Electric Shepherd is San Francisco’s new premiere psych-rock outfit, formed in the summer of 2009. The jam-based trio draws heavy influence from 60’s psychedelia, freak folk/blues, indie pop, and heavy metal, while exploring themes based in travelogue wanderlust and dystopian moodiness. Herd yourself through vibrant landscapes, malicious utopias, and forgotten passions. Electric Shepherd's latest opus - 'The Imitation Garden' - was released in December 2012 to critical acclaim.

Linear Downfall - Are you happy, sad, laughing, crying, smiling, frightened, or all of the above at the same time? Nashville-based experimental/psychedelic rock band LINEAR DOWNFALL explores musical dimensions that most bands dare cross into. The Up and Down
Started as loud rock/punk three peice in 2005. Added a banjo in 2008
and started doing a few country songs. Went to standing with only 2
drums. Added a Mandolin in 2012 and started playing more Irish Drinking
songs. Just added fiddle. So the band has doubled in size. We
play more acoustic plugged into the PA instead of a wall of amps. The
songs are now more traditional American music but played aggressively.

With their high-energy, technical riffs and singer Brent Walsh’s distinctive wailing, I the Mighty can be best compared to bands like Circa Survive and Say Anything.

Clad in black from head-to-toe, the Rodeo draw influence from new wave artists like Devo, glam rock innovators like David Bowie and original country music classics like Johnny Cash. Their look, their sound, their whole deal seems as if they were cast as the band in a Quentin Tarantino film.

Playing gritty punk rock in the same vein as Hot Water Music and Propagandhi, the group has since toured all over the country with the likes of Rise Against, Pennywise, the Lawrence Arms, Less Than Jake, and Strung Out. He has been bringing the all vinyl Bakersfield Backbeat show to a large local and international audience since 2010. Beginning in the fall of 2011 he began combining his radio show with a live audience-driven stage show called The Hillbilly Hootenanny.
The two-hour live broadcast Hootenanny is based on Grand Old Opry Stage Show and brings together the best traditional country & western musicians from Northern California to make up the backing band. Each show is emceed by by radio host Jack Champion, and features the Bay Area’s best Americana and Country Western singers who each perform 2-3 songs.
Each show has so far been standing room only, and the podcasts have been downloaded in increasing numbers with each show (over 1,000 downloads for a Hootenanny Broadcast during Fall 2011).

of the New York renaissance of hardcore punk in the early 1980s. Much
more raw, visceral, and overtly confrontational than their New York punk
predecessors, they were contemporaries of Reagan Youth (of which bass
player Andy Apathy was an early member), the earliest incarnation of the
Beastie Boys, and the Bad Brains. They belonged to a group of bands
coming out of the borough of Queens that included Kraut, Gilligan's
Revenge (later called Token Entry), Murphy's Law, and The Mob. The band,
like many others of the era, was short-lived, and after the breakup
several members went on to form Major Conflict.

Their only recorded material is an eight-song 7", which was released
in 1982 on Mob Style Records, the record label of fellow hardcore band
The Mob (and later as a 12" on Big City Records). The Urban Waste EP has
been released by the New York City label Mad at the World Records in
its series of New York hardcore reissues from the early 1980s. The EP
was also reissued in digital format by the New York based digital label
Anthology Recordings.

The band reunited in…

catapulted the movement worldwide the SUICIDAL TENDENCIES. Their debut
self titled album featured the punk hits I Saw Your Mommy…, Suicidal
Failure, Possessed and Institutionalized, the first hardcore punk hit to
receive substantial airplay on the still growing all music channel MTV.
Their 1987 sophomore album, JOIN THE ARMY, although didn’t live up to
the expectations of its predecessor, did spawn the hits War Inside My
Head, Possessed to Skate, and Born To Be Cyco. Through the years the
lineup of the SUICIDAL TENDENCIES continues to evolve but one truth
stands – There’s no SUI… without Loui!

After leaving SUICIDAL TENDENCIES, Mayorga bounced around Los Angeles
working with Kidd Frost, Norwood Fisher, Aaron Mcfadden, Lily Hayden,
toured as a stand in bass player for Cypress Hill, and founded the
ska-punk-rasta-funk band HORNY Toad! which is best known for the modest
hit SHIVER.

“While on the road with H.R. of BAD BRAINS, club promoters who
remembered me from the 80’s kept asking me where I’ve been and why I
wasn’t touring and it suddenly hit me. I co-wrote/wrote or composed some
pretty big hits, it would be…

Holy Grail - Formed in Southern California in 2008 when vocalist James Paul Luna
and drummer Tyler Meahl diverged from Pasadena metal squadron White
Wizzard and teamed up with San Diegan guitar hero Eli Santana, the band
was called Sorcerer until it became clear that the moniker didn’t quite
capture the rarefied nature of the members’ collective talents. Sorcerer
became Holy Grail. The band became so unstoppable that
California just couldn’t contain them and now, like their spiritual
forefathers in Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and Dio, Holy Grail are poised
to bring their hook-laden shred anthems to an arena near you.
Holy Grail are heavy metal personified, possessing a seemingly
infinite arsenal of mind-blowing riffs, skyscraping vocal melodies and
devastating drum dynamism. Not mention the kind of six-string acrobatics
and straight-up power-shredding that would make Yngwie Malmsteen chuck
the proverbial goat in sweep-picking solidarity. “We shred and we’re
serious about it,” Luna offers. “This is not a tongue-in-cheek thing.
It’s not throwback or retro. Holy Grail is a modern band with a new
twist on the best of old-school metal with death metal riffs, modern
breakdowns and power-metal singing. We just tried to pick stuff from all
our favorite bands and…

The Dickies - Formed in 1977 in Los Angeles, California, USA, this punk rock band made their mark by specializing in speedy renditions of humorous songs, many of which were cover versions of earlier rock hits. The original line-up of the Dickies comprised Leonard Graves Phillips (vocals/keyboards), Chuck Wagon (Bob Davis, USA, d. June 1981, USA; keyboards/saxophone/vocals), Stan Lee (guitar/vocals), Billy Club (b. Bill Remar; bass/vocals) and Karlos Kabellero (b. Carlos Caballero; drums/vocals). Wearing fashionably ludicrous, often grotesque clothing, the Dickies quickly became one of the most popular of the original LA punk bands, and were signed to A&M Records in 1978. In addition to their self-penned songs, the Dickies’ early recordings included such previously bombastic numbers as the Moody Blues’ ‘Nights In White Satin’ and Black Sabbath’s ‘Paranoid’, played at a furious pace and often clocking in at under two minutes. During their career they also covered the Monkees, Led Zeppelin and others, including a remake of the Banana Splits cartoon theme song, which took the band into the UK Top 5 in 1979. Their original material often took its cue from cult b-movies, similar in style and attitude to New York’s Ramones.
