Known as the King of Tex-Mex rock and roll, Joe King Carrasco, creates a stylistic borderland of pop rock and Latin rhythms. His cross-cultural stew blends cumbias, vamp, salsa, surf, reggae, blues, and Latin-tinged polkas. It has been a long road, coming from Dumas,Texas, a dusty little west Texas town where in the 7th grade he started playing in garage bands. In his late teens, he was often lured to the beaches in Southern Mexico and was drawn to the Mexican music he was hearing around him. Back in Texas he joined up with future members of the Texas Tornados and formed a band known as Joe King Carrasco & El Molino and in 1978 released his 1st LP titled “Tex-Mex Rock & Roll”. Austin-based Fragile Rock is the world's only emo puppet band.  They have been called “the perfect festival act” by Variety and has both headlined their own NPR Tiny Desk Concert and get booed off the stage at America’s Got Talent. Imagine Fugazi and the Muppets having a nervous breakdown together and you’ve got Fragile Rock. The 7-piece collective of punks and puppets was created in 2014 by writer and musician Brently Heilbron and is a 6-time featured artist at SXSW. Born and raised in Austin, Texas, Calder Allen is a fifth-generation Texan whose roots run deep in the state. His mother’s family settled in Austin in the 1890s, while his father’s side put down roots in the Texas Panhandle in the early 1900s. That grounding in Texas tradition was paired with an upbringing steeped in creativity. Calder was exposed to the world of music and art at an early age through his family. His grandparents, Terry and Jo Harvey Allen, are lifelong career artists who curated an upbringing and culture that encouraged every form of honest artistic expression. Before pursuing it full-time, he had planned on becoming a fly-fishing guide. Introduced to the river life by his brother Sled, he quickly became captivated by the art of fly fishing, setting his priorities around time on the water and exploring river systems across the country.
