Comedian Justin Williams Brings His Work Back Home

NYC-based funnyman to record first album, ‘Kansas City Masterpiece,’ Dec. 28

(NEW YORK) NOV. 20, 2013– Whether laughing at him or with him, New York-

based comedian Justin Williams wants you laughing because of him. On Dec. 28, he’s

bringing his funny business back to where it all started, his hometown of Kansas

City, Missouri, to record his first album, “Justin Williams: Kansas City Masterpiece.”

The live show, which will take place from 7-9 p.m. at

Recordbar, 1020 Westport Road, will showcase Williams’

unique sense of humor. Much of his set plays off of topical

tidbits, personal anecdotes and pointing out the absurd.

“I initially used humor as a defense mechanism, but as I

grew up, my desire to make others laugh matured as well,”

said Williams. “Coming home to Kansas City to perform

and record an album is really exciting—not just because I

get to do what I love, but because I get to do it in the place

that I love. New York may be where I got my start in

comedy, but Kansas City is where I learned how to make people laugh.”

In 2012, Williams released his first film, “Justin Williams: Black and Comfortably

Middle Class.” The film has since been screened at the 2013 Friars Club Comedy

Film Festival, where rave reviews stated the film, “brings the funny again and again.”

It was also a part of the 2013 Philadelphia Independent Film Festival and received

an Award of Merit-Humor/Humorist at the 2013 Best Shorts Competition.

Williams was named as one of Elite Daily's Comics to Watch and was featured in the

Sept. 2012 issue of Men's Health Magazine. He is the current host of “Death Comedy

Jam,” The Creek and the Cave and co-host of Late Night New York, which can be seen

at www.latenightnyc.com. Additionally, he has been featured on the “3 Dudes and A

Broad” podcast as well as The Cult Comedy Picture Show, which has over 700,000

YouTube views.

He was a finalist in The Gilda's Club of Northern New Jersey’s 10th Annual Laugh

Off, a semi-finalist in the 2009 Boston Comedy Festival and a featured panelist on

“Offstage w/ Christian Polanco” at the 2013 NYC Podcast Festival. Williams has

participated in the Cape Fear Comedy Festival, Dallas Comedy Festival, NXNE (North

by Northeast) and numerous other comedy festivals all over the country.

Williams’ Dec. 28 show will feature comedian Luke Younger, who has appeared in

commercials for Playstation's MLB The Show: 13, Miller Lite, Dunkin Donuts and T-

Mobile. The show is open to adults ages 18 and older and tickets may be purchased

online at http://holdmyticket.com/event/153386.
