Celebrating their 30-year history, Zen Archer is releasing their new album “In The Meantime…” and playing shows this fall to promote it in Houston and Austin.
The album showcases new material as well as some re-mastered favorites. Elements of the Beatles,Todd Rundgren and Crowded House shine through some of their material.
The progressive pop band started in 1988 and released 3 albums “Under the Sun”, “What Goes Around” and “Dream Machine” plus a "Best of Zen Archer" Volume 1 in 2010.
They were voted "Best Rock Band in Houston" second only to ZZ Top in a Houston Press poll taken at the pinnacle of their popularity. The band splintered in the 90’s but they have continued to play and record together in different configurations and in the interim they have released solo albums, won Grammys and raised families. Now the original lineup is back together.
Their music was featured extensively on Houston radio stations KLOL, Texas Radio and on ZIO7 in the 90’s. The band played festivals such as Party on the Plaza, HoustonFest and FreedomFest opening for such acts as Bruce Hornsby, Roger McGuin and others. Their concerts were broadcast live on radio multiple times during their heyday.
As one album reviewer put it ” Zen Archer hails from Texas and delivers perfect, flawless AOR anthems that will have you spinning this disc over and over again.”
The band is Dan Golvach- vocals, guitar, Randy Miller-vocals, bass, Steve Wilson- vocals, guitar, Michael Grammar-drums and Marcus Evans- bass.
