George Ensle is celebrating his 50 year performing songwriter career with his new CD, "Home."
In 1978 George recorded his first Album, "Head-On" in Willis Alan Ramsey's Studio with Austin's all star players, including Stephen Doster on guitar. Now 40 years later you have "HOME", produced by Stephen Doster in his state of the art Analog/ Digital studio. After releasing 12 Albums since that first one, George is at the top of his game, with songwriting steeped in the storytelling Folk roots of friends and fellow Houstonians Townes Van Zandt and Guy Clark. And s Doster's Production credits for more than 70 Artists brings a master Producer to the project. Combine that with stellar performances by Austin icons John Inmon, (Black Sheep), Christine Albert, (All I Need), Warren Hood, (Black Sheep, Ode to Jake, Old Windmill Waltz), and Stephen Doster, (Old Love), along with veteran studio players, Greg Whitfield, Mike Rieman, Chip Dolan, Dony Wynn, Geoff Queen, Kristin de Witt, and Greg Lowry, and you have a soundscape that takes the listener on a compelling journey far away from and back to "HOME." George's seasoned baritone sings and recites stories in song over his intricate finger style playing on his vintage Martin Acoustic and Resonator Guitars, and closes the CD with the finishing touch of an intimate solo piano piece. There is warmth and drama as George sings about the rite of passage of leaving home for the first time, (On Your Way), the black sheep who lose their way back home, (Black Sheep), a pair of gloves that become a young man's guide to life away from home, (Gloves), a young girl runaway and young soldier's return home, (Home), and touching stories of the town drunk hero, ( Ode to Jake), a handyman, (Sonny), and old lovers waltzing on a hill to a gently creaking windmill, (Old Windmill Waltz).
