FUNDRAISER TO SEND AWARD WINNING NEW MEXICO STUDENT QUARTET ON 2019 SUMMER EUROPEAN FESTIVAL TOUR
presented by the New Mexico Jazz Workshop in partnership with Outpost

This evening's concert is a fundraiser to help the New Mexico Jazz Workshop send an exceptional New Mexican student quartet to perform in Europe this summer. The winner of the first annual New Mexico Jazz Competition is a quartet whose core members have been playing together for over 6 years. Saxophonist, Paul Lovato, pianist Evan Fort, bassist Mateo Rembe, and drummer Jonah Minkus have all been participants in the Outpost Performance Space's Youth Jazz Ensemble classes for many years. Evan Fort, Jonah Minkus, and Mateo Rembe (all students at the Bosque School) have been recognized as top musicians and improvisers at the Middle School and High School level in the state of New Mexico, both on the All-State level, and at the Albuquerque-UNM Jazz Festival. Paul Lovato, (a blind multi-instrumentalist) who is the quartet's saxophonist, was awarded for "Musical Exellence" by the United States Marine Corps, and won Gold and Silver medals from the Western United States Bagpipe Band Association. Evan Fort was chosen (together with 40 other students from around the world) to attend the Berklee Global Jazz Institute Summer Workshop, where he studied with masters like Danilo Perez and Tia Fuller. He was a featured performer on the main stage at Newport Jazz Festival. Evan also won the inaugural John Lewis Award in Albuquerque in 2017.

Tickets: General $35; Students $10 (No Member discounts or passes allowed as this is a Benefit Concert)
