Anavrin's Day (A Musical Tribute to the 90's) 2 sets!!!

Denver, Colo. – Anavrin’s Day – A Tribute to ’90s Alternative, a newly formed band playing the best of 1990s grunge and alternative, have debuted its unique take on the tunes of the time’s legends – including Nirvana, Green Day, STP, Tool, Foo Fighters, Third Eye Blind and more –

Anavrin’s Day – the name comes from Nirvana spelled backwards, combined with the second half of Green Day – is composed of veteran Colorado musicians who wanted to share their passion for the innovative music of the era.

“We seek out the more intricate and hard-to-play songs from that period, which means that it’s critical that the musicians in the band are sharp and focused, and also able to nail the harmonies and more complicated instrumentals,” says band founder Jonathan “JC” Cernan, who sings lead vocals and plays both guitar and keyboards. “The group we have assembled does just that – not to mention that they also rock.”

All of the musicians in Anavrin’s Day contribute to the vocals, but each offers a particular additional focus:

· JC Cernan has been a regular presence in the Denver music scene solo and as keyboardist for the popular ’70s tribute band Mr. Majestyk’s 8-Track Revival. After taking his first piano lessons at age 5, he went on to play and sing as a solo artist at 15. After attending Baldwin Wallace University and the Cleveland Institute of Music, his pursuit of popular music led him to several a stint with the Cleveland-area band Auralis, followed by a move to Denver that connected him with Crimson Sky (later known as FalleN) and eventually Mr. Majestyk’s.

· Denver native and guitarist Nick Valdez has a remarkably well-varied background in music, with heavy metal, rock, classical, jazz, reggae and more under his belt. The exceptionally productive songwriter has created original music for several Denver-area bands, including Aegri Somnia, A Harlem Sunset, and his own effort, Mad Pow. Valdez studied under Alex Komodore and Jeff LaQuatra while earning his degree in classical guitar from MSU-Denver.

· Like Cernan, bass player Beau Juenemann has been playing piano since the age of 5, but he also trained in classical guitar and bass. Juenemann composes and plays for Mad Pow – billed as progressive-nerd-math rock – along with Valdez, but he has explored jazz, classical prog and punk, among other genres. He is in the process of completing his degree in classical guitar at MSU-Denver, studying with LaQuatra, as well.

· Drummer Mateo MacDonald has been playing and writing songs in Colorado since he was in grade school. The music teacher – for 15 years, he has taught guitar, drums, saxophone and songwriting – was the lead guitarist for Kindred and the drummer for FalleN. MacDonald earned his degree in Music Performance from CU-Denver.
