Reviews: Eric McFadden
“Encompassing three decades of recording and performing live, McFadden has created his own original style…Pain By Numbers represents an artist exposing his own vulnerability with unmatched expression, style, delivery, and above all, originality…While delivering the goods with the same energy as the Clash and the Ramones, Eric McFadden’s Blues seek its own musical footprint on Pain By Numbers.” (IndiePulse Music 2018)
“I will confess to you on the front end that it has been a long time since I have received a CD for review that I have personally enjoyed as much as the latest release from the San Francisco based guitarist Eric McFadden…This recording is an incredible showcase of McFadden’s enormous talent, diversity, and passion. The songs are originals of McFadden and are among some of the more compelling tunes lyrically that I have heard in a good while. The overall feeling of “Pain By Numbers” is decidedly positive and redemptive…“Pain By Numbers” is truly a work of art and it receives my highest recommendation to you.” (Tom Branson Bluesrock.reviews 2019)
“If San Francisco is home to anyone approaching the abilities of a modern Hendrix, it’s Eric McFadden.” (Jimmy Leslie / Guitar Player Magazine 2009)
Kate Vargas
“The New Mexico-raised, NYC-based artist is building ever more mindfully on her sound, and the music press is taking notice, Vargas receiving praise from a variety of respected outlets including Impose, The Boot and the Huffington Post, the latter assessing, “There is an unlimited amount of potential in this superstar on the rise.”
Vargas has packed houses from Ireland’s Westport Folk and Bluegrass Festival to The Troubadour in London, The Mansion on O Street in Washington D.C. to New York’s Bowery Electric. Her upcoming album, For The Wolfish & Wandering, features her singular folk-style storytelling. The songs are grounded in a darkly melodic, reverb-washed sonic palette of dreampop, dusty folk and junkyard blues, all carried by Vargas’ rough-hewn vocals and guitar playing. In equal measure, she channels a surprising array of artists, from Tom Waits and 16 Horsepower to Lana Del Rey and K. Flay.” -Glide Magazine 2018
