For their new album, released in February and aptly titled Zoo, Ceremony set out to articulate the myriad emotions humans feel on a daily basis, rather than harping on human injustices and imperfections. With this concept, the band was able to create an album with a wide range of sounds from song to song, encompassing all that makes us human, while still creating a cohesive record. The album, and particularly the title, were inspired by the idea that we live in such a heavily structured society in order to maximize our comfort, yet we still deal with suffering as a significant part of the human condition. On Zoo, Ceremony explores what it means to be human, caged in our complex society, full of complicated feelings and surrounded with others who we're trying desperately to live in harmony with.

Based out of Rohnert Park, in the San Francisco Bay area, Ceremony released their first EP, Ruined, in 2005. In 2006, the band followed it up with their first full-length, the critically-acclaimed Violence Violence. By 2008, the band put out Still Nothing Moves You, ranking them on Billboard's Top Internet and Heatseekers charts upon release. Their third full-length, 2010's Rohnert Park continues to earn them acclaim. Over the years, the band has toured consistently, sharing stages with everyone from Converge and Blacklisted to AFI. With broad influences that encompass Joy Division, Tom Waits, Pink Floyd and Black Flag, the west coast band incorporates the aesthetics of emotion on display with those legends into their new and inventive sounds. Ceremony is Ross Farrar, Anthony Anzaldo, Andy Nelson, Justin Davis, and Jake Casarotti.
