Currently based in New York City, jazz trumpet player J.Q. Whitcomb grew up in Santa Fe and is making quite a name for himself in The Big Apple where he recently received a masters degree in Jazz at The Juilliard School. His musical knowledge and stylistic depth makes him the ideal jazz trumpet player to present such a tribute to the jazz legend Fats Navarro. This concert will cover the jazz styles of Freddie Hubbard, Lee Morgan and Woody Shaw, some of Fats' fiery offspring who were inspired by his huge sound and limitless energy. It's always an event when J. Q. returns to Santa Fe with a fresh taste of The Big Apple from his musical palette.
