PREREQUISITE: Hand Tool Academy skills classes (saws, chisels, planes)
Learn how to lay out and construct stopped mortise and tenon joints using only traditional hand tools. This is one of the strongest and most common joints in furniture making. You’ll learn how to cut a tenon with a backsaw, and how to cut a mortise with a mortise chisel. Then you’ll learn how to trim the tenon cheeks, tenon shoulders, and mortise walls to achieve a perfect fit.

COVID-19 POLICY: Masks are required due to the state health order. Social distancing is observed in the shop.
DRESS CODE: Wear sturdy shoes that cover the whole foot and have good tread. NO FLIP-FLOPS, SANDALS OR CROCS. Tie back long hair/beards. No drawstrings, jewelry, scarves, or other items that may hang into your work area.
PPE: Safety glasses and hearing protection are required; dust masks strongly recommended. Glasses and earplugs may be purchased at the shop or you may bring your own.
CANCELLATION: You may cancel your registration up to 24 hours before the event for a full refund. Cancellations less than 24 hours ahead of time will result in a credit toward a future class.
