In this class, participants will learn about the elements that make up Latin music, including chord progressions, improvisation, Latin rhythms, Blues, 2-5-1 and rhythm change forms, rhythmic exercises, improvisation lines (riffs) and more. Throughout the session, participants will break out into virtual ‘practice rooms’ to learn the material presented in the class, which they may be called upon to share with the group. César will also make regular visits into the ‘practice rooms’ to see how things are going!

Originally from Cuba, César Bauvallet has been a music educator and professional performer for more than 30 years as well as a renowned trombonist, percussionist (congas, bongos, timbales, batá drums, as well as drumset and hand percussion), singer, composer, arranger and bandleader. He is most widely known here in New Mexico as the leader of the popular 9-piece Salsa band, Son Como Son.
