AJ Temple's Bio:

AJ Temple is a gin maker and writer; the distiller of the award-winning Chapter One gins. Temple Distilling is a family-owned spirits producer based in Lynnwood, WA and specializes in gin. They have produced 7 different styles of gin over the last 6 years, all Gold Medal award winners.

AJ began his passion for flavor around the age of 5 when he opened his first cookbook. That love translated into the spirits world later on, and he is still mastering culinary endeavors at home when not making gin. And yes, even using it to cook on occasion. Gin is truly a ‘chef’s spirit’, the botanicals and techniques used to distill make up 99% of what you experience when tasting it. This is as opposed to whiskey, which is more like baking, being limited to a few simple ingredients and leaving the rest up to time and nature.

They are a small batch operation with a big presence, so much so that the American Distilling Institute commissioned AJ to write a book on gin. It covers their story, useful and technical details of how the distillery is run and gin is made, and how to survive in this crazy business. It’s called ‘So, Why Gin?’ as that is the question AJ has been asked the most over the years. Eager to find out the answer? Sign up for the class, taste and learn about different gins and what makes them the way they are, and leave with a complimentary copy of his book.
