New York Jazz Trumpeter Michael Morreale is no stranger to the music of Miles Davis, perhaps the most serious influence throughout Morreale’s career. While his experience includes tenure with the big bands of Loren Schoenberg and Lou Anderson, his credits run deep in association with artists Chuck Wayne, Keely Smith and Joe Jackson. He has appeared on many recordings as a sideman, among them two albums with New Mexico quintet “Straight Up”. As a leader he recently released a massive undertaking in multi CD packages including “MilesSong”, a 2 CD pocket set paying homage to his hero. A first listen of these recordings is chilling, when you realize that it’s not Miles, but someone who has ingested the true essence of what the legend was to modern jazz. This concert spans across decades of Miles’ music beginning with his early quintet recordings, through his famous 60’s material composed by Wayne Shorter and into Electric Miles. All of this will be presented in a quintet setting featuring the tenor saxophone of Alex Murzyn, with the rhythm section of Bob Fox on Piano, Terry Burns on Bass, and John Trentacosta on Drums.

Who could ask for anything more.
