A Living Legend, George Cables has left an indelible mark on the history of jazz as one of the best pianist sidemen ever to come along in modern jazz. On well over three hundred recordings with the greatest names in jazz history, George recorded with Sonny Rollins, Joe Henderson, Freddie Hubbard, Woody Shaw and Bobby Hutcherson, all before the early 70’s. Add to that the names Art pepper, Sarah Vaughn, Roy Haynes, Dizzy Gillespie and Tony Williams and you have clearly defined the ”Who’s Who” of modern jazz piano. As if that wasn’t enough, George made history with Dexter Gordon’s amazing band in the mid 70’s, which many say was Dexter’s greatest band of his entire career.

George Cables has spent the last few decades cultivating his compositional skills and leading his own trio, the latest of which includes Essiet Essiet on bass and Jerome Jennings on drums, while at the same time playing an active roll as a founding member of The Cookers. Don’t miss the thrill of a lifetime as this Living Legend lights up the performance space at SITE with his masterful music.
