DRUMMIN' MAN
THE GENE KRUPA STORY
Ten years ago marked a historic milestone for jazz in Northern New Mexico. The Santa Fe Music Collective was born from an idea who’s mission was to bring the highest quality jazz to Santa Fe. That same year, I accepted the challenge by “Stars Never Fade Productions” to play the leading role of Gene Krupa in their production of Drummin’ Man at the Santa Fe Playhouse. The show was a highly acclaimed success ……. "mission accomplished". In 2023, we are on track to present 20 plus concerts in three separate venues, hosting some of the finest world class musicians in jazz today. We start 2023 with our participation in the first annual “Art + Sol” Winter Festival along with the most prestigious music presenters in our beautiful cultural capital of the southwest. On February 17th, SFMC will be celebrating our tenth anniversary with the revival of “Drummin’ Man” at SITE Santa Fe. We will be hosting a nine piece band of New Mexico’s finest, playing the Quincy Jones arrangements that helped propel the Gene Krupa Band to national fame in the 1940’s. Come help us celebrate Jazz history right here in Santa Fe as we once again reach our milestone.
