RUSS SCANLON QUARTET

Celebrating the Music of Jim Hall

Please welcome Russ Scanlon, an eclectic guitar master who hails from the city of Austin Texas. Russ is a recent arrival to the Northern New Mexico jazz scene, bringing with him a treasure trove of experience in many genres of music. He is a founding member of two award winning Brazilian groups, Quizumba and The Samba Police, and has appeared with jazz greats Dave Brubeck, Billy Hart, and David “Fathead” Newman, among many others. In addition to a huge list of credits as a session man, Russell was the featured guitarist for the Austin Symphony “Pops” for multiple seasons.

As part of our SFMC’s ongoing “Jazz Welcome Series”, we’d like to introduce you to another jazz musician who has recently chosen to make Santa Fe his home, bringing with him fresh new talent to add to our already thriving jazz scene. Appearing with Russ this evening will be Bob Fox-piano, Cyrus Campbell-Bass, and John Trentacosta on drums.
