Chris Quintanilla is the CEO of Azul Imports, the makers of Azulejos and Skelly Tequilas. He was born in Mexico City in 1983. When he was 10 years old, his father founded Azulejos, and throughout his middle school and high school years, Chris watched him as he developed the brands. Since Chris was good with computers, he would assist him with graphic design work and similar tasks as a teenager.
After graduating from high school, Chris moved to the U.S. in 2002 and enrolled at the University of Texas at San Antonio, where he pursued a double major in Marketing & Business Management. After graduating, he embarked on a 17-year career with Mexcor, the U.S. importer of Azulejos Tequila, starting as a local Sales Representative. Over the years, he gained experience in various roles within the liquor industry, eventually rising through the ranks to become a Regional Manager, State Manager, V.P. of National Sales & Operations, and ultimately Chief Sales Officer and Chief Business Intelligence Officer. Chris is also a WSET Level 2 Wine and Spirits Educator. Concurrently, he continued working with his father until his passing in 2018, after which the business transitioned to his mother, Linda.
Chris's mother, Linda, was an English teacher in Mexico for 30 years. As a retired teacher, his mother and Chris joined forces to sustain the business, successfully navigating the challenges posed by COVID and the general craziness. Chris managed to keep the company going, to the point of thriving.
At the beginning of 2023, Chris made the decision to fully dedicate himself to Azul Imports and actively contribute to the legacy established by his father and mother. He loves the business and is passionate about their brands! There is nothing he prefers doing than talking about tequila and spreading the good word educating people on this great elixir! He looks forward to bringing you his vast knowledge in this fun and exciting Sip Idaho High-End Tequila Class!
