Giacomo Aula

World Renown Italian Jazz Pianist

Once again SFMC reaches beyond borders, this time into Italy to bring the best jazz talent to our beautiful arts capital of the southwest. Classically trained jazz pianist Giacomo Aula got his degree in jazz studies, securing a position in the Italian Youth Jazz Orchestra and traveling the world with jazz heavyweights James Newton, Eliot Zigmund, Peter Erskine, John Taylor, Polle Danielsson, and Lee Konitz. These days he works regularly with Larry Schneider, with whom he has released several albums.

Giacomo brings to the bandstand a full sound with harmonic voicings reminiscent of the great master Bill Evans, with whom his style has often been compared to by jazz writers around the globe. At a recent appearance with Deanna Kirk at Mezzrow, New Yorks’ jazz piano room, Aula was showered upon with rave reviews from the toughest jazz critics the world has known. “ I thought I was in the room listening to Bill Evans”, said one jazz journal writer.

Friday, May 24th will bring to Santa Fe jazz lovers a rare opportunity to hear this Italian jazz master in the intimate setting of Paradiso Santa Fe, accompanied by Gordon Johnson on Bass and John Trentacosta on Drums. So come on out and welcome our jazz star from across the Atlantic.
