Meet Your Class Master: John McKee, Owner/Founder of Headframe Spirits
2024 Montana American Single Malt Distillery of the Year
John has spent the last 10 years becoming a force of good in the craft distilling industry. Since co-founding both Headframe Spirits and Headframe Spirits Manufacturing in 2012, he has led the development of Headframe’s Spirit brands and the designs of Headframe Manufacturing’s proprietary continuous flow distillation systems.
Headframe Spirits has quickly established itself as a leader in the American Single Malt category, operating as the largest American Single Malt Distillery west of the Mississippi. In 2016, lead by John, Headframe Spirits joined 8 other distilleries to found the American Single Malt Whiskey Commission to address the growing need for an elevated American-based product protected by federal category classification, like Scotch or Japanese whiskies.
Now, Headframe sits as the 2024 Montana American Single Malt Distillery of the Year, with their Kelley American Single Malt winning multiple gold accolades since its release in 2020.
