“A New Mexico Jazz Festival Event”

An Exclusive SFMC Platinum Series Concert

It is with much sadness that we share the news of the sudden passing of the great jazz guitarist Russell Malone on Friday, August 23rd. The entire jazz community has been shaken by this loss as we are in Northern New Mexico. His New Mexico Jazz Festival tour with his own quartet is still scheduled to take place the 3rd week of September with concerts in Santa Fe and Albuquerque. Without skipping a beat, the amazing Bobby Broom has offered to step in and lead Russell’s band in this southwest tour, with a tribute concert to the great legacy of his friend Russell Malone. Bobby Broom will be accompanied by Richard Germanson - Piano; Vincent DuPont – Bass, and Braxton Kahn - Drums.

Please read about Bobby and Watch Bobby Broom - Summer Breeze - from Bobby Broom's Soul Fingers.

Bobby Broom is considered to be one of the most versatile jazz guitarists on the scene today, In 1977, at the age of sixteen, he made his first appearance with Sonny Rollins at Carnegie Hall. Nearly fifty years later Bobby has amassed a formidable jazz pedigree, working with such historic figures as Sonny Rollins, Miles Davis, Stanley Turrentine and Kenny Burrell, as well as many of his contemporaries. To date he has made fifteen albums as a leader and traveled and performed in countries on five continents.

We hope you join us for what is sure to be a great concert, and a wonderful tribute to Russell Malone.

This tribute will also be presented in Albuquerque at The Outpost Performance Space on Thursday, September 19th, 7:30 pm. More information at Outpostspace.org
