Plays Music of Horace Silver
Musical charisma is what describes why the room lights up when Horace Alexander Young takes the stage. A master musician with an ability to connect with his audience like the greats of yesteryear; Sinatra, Nat Cole and Sammy Davis Jr. He plays saxophone, sings, arranges and composes, much of which can be heard on recordings with The Brubeck Brothers, Abdullah Ibrahim and many more. His saxophone flute, and vocal skills have thrilled audiences from twenty countries across five continents at major jazz festivals from Houston to Tokyo and beyond. In addition, Horace spent seventeen years as musical director, and featured soloist with NEA Master Abdullah Ibrahim, the foremost ambassador of South African jazz.
For this special concert, former music chair of Santa Fe University of Art and Designs contemporary music department, Horace will be playing the music of jazz legend Horace Silver. He will be accompanied by Bob Fox - Piano, Gordon Johnson - Bass, and John Trentacosta - Drums.
It all happens on Friday, January 31st at UNIT B, Santa Fe’s most elegant Jazz Supper Club.
