The Music of Lee Morgan
Born in Santa Fe, J.Q. Whitcomb received his BM from Oberlin Conservatory and a Masters in Jazz performance from the Juilliard School. He lived in Shanghai China for seven years and was featured weekly at the JZ jazz club, Shanghai’s most popular jazz club, while performing regularly on multiple radio broadcasts and performing live in many cities throughout the country. While living in New York City, J.Q. attained a great amount of success performing on the NY Jazz scene and teaching regularly. A consummate jazz artist and composer, J.Q. has won multiple awards for his compositions and recording projects.
SFMC welcomes J.Q. back to his home town, this time with a concert focused on the music of one of his mentors and a true innovator in modern jazz, Trumpeter Lee Morgan.
For this concert, J.Q. will be accompanied by Bob Fox - Piano, Gordon Johnson - Bass, and John Trentacosta - Drums.
