Named in honor of Albuquerque's pioneering aeronauts Maxie Anderson and Ben Abruzzo, the museum opened in 2005 and has since welcomed over one million visitors from across New Mexico, the United States, and around the world.

Things to Know Before You Visit
During our phased reopening our visiting hours will be 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., and 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Wednesday through Sunday. We are closed Mondays and Tuesdays.
In order to maintain social distancing and keep our guests safe, a one-way path through the exhibits, has been developed to maximize your time and enhance your experience.
Touch screens throughout the Museum will remain off to reduce surface contact.
The 4D Theater will be closed in order to maintain the current social distancing requirement of 6 feet.
Balloon School will be closed for the installation of a new youth exhibit.
The Balloon Museum Shoppe will be open beginning September 9, with limited capacity.
Guests are required to adhere to the current COVID-19 Safe Practices that have been established for the Museum, per the City's mandate for reopening.
