The drag Cinderella story you didn't know you needed, PAGEANT MATERIAL is a heartfelt dramedy about the power of love, the kindness of strangers, and the magic of a cheap wig. Rodney is a gay 17-year-old living in small-town Alabama with his physically abusive stepdad and stepbrothers. When he learns about the upcoming Miss Teen Drag Atlanta Pageant, he must channel the spirit of his late, pageant-queen mom and plan his escape!
PAGEANT MATERIAL captures drag's transformative energies and its caring community of queens. With memorable performances by newcomers Hart Morse (Rodney) and Marianne Johnson (his best friend/aspiring artist Monique), this fearless indie is the feature debut from director Jonothon Mitchell, star of Adult Swim's "Dear Jono."
