The Girl from Berlin is a page-turner set mainly in Nazi-era Berlin and Mussolini’s Italy. In contemporary times, a powerful corporation tries to evict an elderly woman from her Tuscan villa and vineyard. The only clue is a handwritten manuscript in German, which eventually unearths long-buried secrets. This novel deservedly won the 2018 National Jewish Book Award in the Book Club category.
